Little Heroes Support Group Makes a Difference

In the hustle and bustle of Southend-on-Sea, a remarkable organisation called Little Heroes ASD Support Group is making waves in the lives of families with children on the autistic spectrum. Co-founded by Kim, a dedicated mother and Helen a support worker. This parent-led support group has become a beacon of hope and understanding for the local community. Through their tireless efforts and the generous support of the Cherry Family Foundation, Little Heroes has been able to provide transformative experiences and create lasting memories for these families.

Skiing Adventures

One heartwarming testimonial shared the joy of a father and son who experienced the thrill of skiing together on the dry slopes. With the supportive staff of Little Heroes, they were able to conquer their fears and enjoy an activity that seemed out of reach before. Through patience and encouragement, the young boy’s confidence soared as he fearlessly zoomed down the slopes. It’s experiences like these that create lasting memories and boost the self-esteem of children on the spectrum.

Chocolate Kitchen Delight

Little Heroes also organised a visit to Sarah’s chocolate kitchen, where families had the opportunity to engage in a fun and tasty activity. The supportive and understanding staff ensured that everyone felt included and safe throughout the experience. This outing became a cherished memory for one family and left a lasting impression as one of their favourite activities provided by Little Heroes.

Overcoming Fears at Rollacity

For Samuel, a child who had always been too fearful to participate in Rollacity, the support and adjustments made by Little Heroes allowed him to face his fears and take part in the thrilling activity. Samuel’s story demonstrates the profound impact that understanding and accommodations can have on an individual’s confidence and willingness to try new things.

Bike Riding Confidence

One grandmother shared her granddaughter’s love for bike riding with Little Heroes. Through these sessions, her granddaughter, who has autism, gained confidence and enjoyed the freedom of riding a bike. This newfound confidence is invaluable and positively affects all areas of her life.

Fun Swim with Diversity Swim School

Little Heroes partnered with Diversity Swim School to provide a fun swim session that delighted many children. From splashing around with inflatables to playing with toys, the inclusive and relaxed environment allowed families to feel accepted and supported. The positive experience prompted some families to continue swimming lessons with the school, further enhancing their child’s water skills and confidence.

Belchamps Adventures

Belchamps activities became a favourite for families in the Little Heroes ASD Group. The outdoor setting provided the perfect environment for children with sensory needs, offering space, a range of activities, and the ability to go at their own pace. From go-karting to climbing walls and target practice, the children explored their abilities while feeling fully supported. These outdoor adventures boosted confidence and wellbeing for the entire family, creating cherished memories.
